The Sahara…a Classic! — Getaway in the Bay

We love a trip to Las Vegas, and we’re down for it any time, no matter the season. We have visited in the blistering cold and also the unbearable heat of the summer, but it’s a fun place any time of the year. There are tons of amazing hotels in Las Vegas, namely on the Strip, but there’s one unlikely hotel that has become one of our favorites, and that’s the Sahara.

The Sahara hotel is not a new hotel. In fact, it’s been around since the late 1940s, but in the last couple of decades, it has gone under different renovations. Although there are a lot of favorite Las Vegas hotels we have, the Sahara is our main one, all for various reasons.

#1: The Sahara has free parking! If you’ve been to the Strip in the last decade or so, you’ll know that hotels on the Strip used to offer free parking, but not anymore. That all changed drastically when Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders, was built. (Stay tuned as we may review that stadium as well!) Parking can cost, on average, about $20 per day. So to have free parking is an amazing deal!

#2: Depending on the tower you choose to stay in, parking can be very convenient. Unlike many of the other Las Vegas hotels, you can park your car and be at your room within 5 minutes if you park near one of the elevators. Las Vegas hotels are deceptively huge, so less walking is ideal when you can.

#3: We like the Sahara because it’s beautiful on the outside, and the rooms are also quite nice. Marra Tower is our personal favorite due to the calming and sophisticated design, with complementary colors of maroon, cream, and gold, and there’s a large LED light up mirror in the bedroom. There’s a Starbucks and a little cafe right as you enter the Marra Tower from the West garage. The rooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom is pretty. And best of all is that the rooms are non-smoking.

#4: Overall, the price at the Sahara is usually pretty good. Because it’s located at the far end of the Strip, it’s often overlooked, and prices can be lower than being more midstrip. But that’s great for us because it’s usually not super crowded when we go.

#5: And while the Sahara is far from all the action, it offers access to the Monorail, which you can ride unlimited for one day at a little over $13.00. The Monorail can take you as far as MGM Grand, so it’s a good option if you don’t want to move your car from free parking to paid parking further down the Strip.

There you have it! The Sahara is a wonderful hotel, but don’t take my word for it…visit it yourself!
